What Is the McKinsey Solve in 2026?
The McKinsey Solve (formerly the Problem Solving Game) is a digital assessment McKinsey uses early in its recruitment process. It replaced the traditional PST and is designed to measure cognitive abilities including critical thinking, decision-making, and systems thinking.
The assessment consists of three main games: Ecosystem Building (known as Sea Wolf), where you create a sustainable marine ecosystem by selecting and placing species with compatible food chains; the Redrock Study, a geoscience investigation task; and the Sustainable Future Lab, a situational judgment test with adaptive team scenarios.
